‘The Love of Painting’ by Isabelle Graw. Don’t be put off by the cover! This is a great and passionate book on modern painting, focusing on recent painting from the last 60 years with references to Frank Stella, Ellsworth Kelly, Gerard Richter and the great generation of German painters of the 1960’s, quite academic in places but well written with interesting interviews with artists such as Merlen Carpenter and Charlene Von Heyl,.. I highly recommend it.
